@BETT 2017: how neuroscience can optimise your learning space

Bett2017

We’ve been working with leading neuroscientist Dr Tim Holmes to develop a classroom that harnesses neuroscience to deliver the optimum learning environment.

The Spaceoasis Classroom will be unveiled at BETT 2017 on stand G100.

We’ll also be sharing our report The Neuroscience of Classrooms, in which Dr Tim Holmes explains why the classroom’s design is beneficial to learning, free on our website, with key highlights in our show edition of CREATE magazine, available on our stand (or download here). Through our collaboration we’ve also established the six key principles for optimising learning environments, based on neuroscientific understanding of human behaviours, so you can implement some of our findings in your own learning environments. You can read about The Six Principles of the Spaceoasis Classroom in the show edition of CREATE.

Peak Skills

Also on our stand will be beautiful new stools, designed and manufactured by pupils at the Peak Academy who make products of superb quality in the school’s DT workshop, where they use professional machinery to develop real-world skills. We were so impressed with the school’s philosophy and achievements we asked them to collaborate with us and you can see the amazing results at BETT. The stools are available to buy, with all profits going back to the school.

Learn with Learnometer

Another tool in our mission to deliver the optimum learning environment is Learnometer, which you can also see on our stand at this year’s BETT. The brainchild of Professor Stephen Heppell and his team, in partnership with Jisc, the Learnometer tracks key environmental factors like temperature, CO2 levels, noise and humidity so you can spot problem areas and solve them. Enter our competition to win a Learnometer and you could be one of the first schools to join in with the research.
