To the world he was one half of the visionary pair who brought us the London Eye, the Treetop Walkway at Kew Gardens and the Brighton i360 – a talented architect whose work transcends its structures to bring joy to so many. To everyone here at Spaceoasis he is all that and much more.
We had the privilege of working with David Marks, Julia Barfield and the team at Marks Barfield Architects on the development of our trademark Curvpress panels back in 2002. The development of Curvpress was a collaboration that brought together MBA’s design skills and our plywood engineering know-how, leading to the creation of Spaceoasis. These brilliant panels continue to be the cornerstone of our modular furniture design. True to the original design they still last for decades and are a testament to the MBA way of working with people from other disciplines to create something truly great.
David and Julia continued to support Spaceoasis over the years, even agreeing to be interviewed for our magazine – something neither of them really had the time to do but did it anyway, for which we are so grateful.
So, thank you David, thank you Julia and thank you MBA – we wouldn’t be here without you and we’re devastated for your loss. Our love and thoughts are with you all.
